What it is ...

A wonderful new addition to our armamentarium to help fight wrinkling and acne scarring, is the laser for facial skin resurfacing. Truly remarkable results now can be achieved in reducing wrinkles around the eyes, crow's-feet, unsightly lipstick lines around the mouth and in the skin of the forehead and face, and acne scarring.

How it's done ...

Under local or general anesthesia, with computer precision, the laser light literally "paints away" these wrinkles, scars, and brown spots to allow the fresh new underlying skin to show through, and at the same time stimulates your own natural skin collagen to thicken up and smoothen your skin.

What to expect after surgery ...

The lasered areas remain red, somewhat like a wind burn, for approximately one to two weeks, following which the redness gradually fades to pink and then to your normal skin color over a variable period of time. The area is kept moist for the first week or so, after which make-up will cover the pinkness, allowing you to resume your normal activities. Pain is usually minimal or nonexistent and the result leaves you with smoother, vibrant, and more evenly textured skin.
