How it's done ...

Depending on the severity of your skin problem, one or more of three different techniques may be used:

  • In light peels, a chemical solution is painted on the areas of the face to be peeled. The solution actually lifts away the rough uppermost layers of the skin and allows the healthy underlying skin to regenerate. With light peeling you are able to be out in the public the same day. A light peel is usually done with a fruit acid, such as Glycolic acid. The peel freshens, brightens, and smoothens the skin.
  • The medium peel (using TCA Trichloroacetic acid) is used to lessen age spots, mild wrinkling, and freckling. You will be able to return to normal activities in seven to ten days.
  • For deeper wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, and other skin irregularities, there is nothing better than the CO2 laser for facial skin resurfacing.

What to expect after surgery ...

Sensations such as itching and tingling may be experienced as your skin heals. Peels can be repeated, as necessary, to achieve and maintain the results you desire. Treatment programs are tailored to meet your individual needs. In medium peels and with laser resurfacing, a scab will develop over the treated areas. After the crust comes off, the reddish color of the skin will gradually return to its normal healthy state.

The end result of skin rejuvenation is tighter, smoother skin that is relatively free of wrinkles and blemishes.
